Just in Time for Back to School: New Guide for Parents of Children With Learning Disabilities Goes Way Beyond the Classroom
Expert educator Etta K. Brown has published a new manual for parents of learning disabled children, helping them to understand the problem and manage the challenges their child will face.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, September 16, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The diagnosis of learning disabilities in the United States is growing at the alarming rate of ten to twenty percent every ten years. Veteran school psychologist and author, Etta K. Brown responds to this trend by defining the term "learning disabilities" from an educational standpoint, giving parents of recently diagnosed kids an excellent resource when they are unsure of where to turn next.

In her book Learning Disabilities: Understanding the Problem and Managing the Challenges (Langdon Street Press; June 2009; ISBN 978-1-934938-17-1; $19.95), Brown identifies barriers to learning that may be present in your child's environment, and indicates how to remove them to provide your child with an atmosphere in which he or she will thrive.

"Learning problems are almost invisible outside the classroom. They make life incredibly difficult for the children who live with them; families and teachers of these children are equally challenged. This book is a rare gem, which provides support to families and teachers that will have an immediate, direct impact upon the lives of children."
-Anita L. King, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

This helpful reference book identifies "problem" behaviors exhibited by the child; how to accommodate them in the classroom; and what can be done at home to help. Included are summaries of special education laws; the power granted to parents by those laws; how to use them to ensure that your child receives an appropriate education; and much, much more Learning Disabilities: Understanding the Problem and Managing the Challenges offers strategies and solutions that will make an immediate difference in the lives of children in the 21st century.
